Oh, what a night! Another great movie with Kauai ties gets a special party and exclusive screening. Universal Pictures' Blue Crush premiered Thursday, August 8, 2002 at Kukui Grove Cinemas.

KONG Radio's Marc Valentine, who hosted the event, made his appearance by "driving up" in an all-new Nissan Xterra from Kuhio Motors.

Passes to the movie screening were awarded to lucky winners in KONG FM's 93.5 Days of Summer Fun Sweepstakes. KONG t-shirts and tank tops, also given to all who won passes, were spotted on a handful of movie goers; many who wanted to show how big a fan of KONG Radio they are.

Grand prize winner of 12 movie premiere passes, Wanda Oshiro, was there with her 11 guests. Her group received gift packages with exclusive memorabilia from the movie, including Blue Crush t-shirts & hats for all 12 in her group.

KONGratulations to DJ Kaneakua, whose name was selected as the grand prize winner that night. DJ will enjoy surfing on his new custom-made Papa Sau long board.

Blue Crush features several Kauai surfers and also co-stars Kauai girl Sanoe Lake, who makes her debut in the movie. The movie is funny, action and adventure packed, has a little romance, has some of the greatest footage of women surfing caught on film, and the music goes perfect with the scenes.
