KONG Radio's 1st annual tug-of-war competition was a great success. Ten

the winning team’s charity. The winning charity was Easter Seals.

This photo was taken at the one year
anniversary of hurricane Iniki, September 11, 1993. KONG Radio buried a time
capsule at the center stage of Kukui Grove Shopping Center. The items on the
table are some of the things placed in the capsule. The marble
plaque to the left was placed over the capsule’s burial site. Next time you're
at Kukui Grove see if you can find where the capsule was buried.

Every year KONG Radio does many charitable events around the island; nothing is more enjoyable than parades. The staff gets an opportunity to meet
our listeners. We also hand out KONG bananas to the spectators.
Several years ago KONG Radio held a 93 hour
Radio fundraiser to help the victims of the Anahola flood. With the support of
the people of Kauai we raised donations of more than $42,000 and over 2 tons
of food. This was the largest fundraiser on Kauai.

Every year the KONG Radio Carolers travel around Kauai to sing songs for those
less fortunate. The carolers are made up of KONG staff, a youth singing group,
Santa Claus, and the KONG Gorilla. The KONG Radio carolers visit hospitals,
retirement homes and shopping centers while handing out fruits to patients and
the elderly, and candy canes to the children.
